Function Test Technician

We invest in excellent working partnerships, powered by people.We are currently seeking multiple Function Test Technician in Yonkers, NY.Position Summary and Special Duties:As a (an) Function Test Technician your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to: Job details. Performs all aspects of work on rail cars being processed through the Yonkers Facility and Commissioning Sites. This includes all electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, modifications and any other duties requested by their supervisor.The position entails working on rail cars in the final assembly process at the Brooklyn’s facility or at a remote site. The technician will use standard hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, etc.) along with his or her ability to perform basic troubleshooting utilizing multi-meters, clamp meters and PC based test/ diagnostic equipment. The technician will read piping diagrams, mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and electrical schematics as required to accomplish the job assignment.The technician will perform test procedures on some the following systems: HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communications systems, Toilet systems, Trainline systems, Sign systems, Automatic train control systems, general functional tests, Hipotential tests, Wining Continuity Tests, Pneumatic Leakage Tests, Dynamic Tests, Burn-in tests, etc.From time to time the Test technician will be required to assist and support the engineering group on various engineering tests.The test technician will interact directly with the customer on a regular basis and must have to ability to communicate clearly the intent and be confident in his or her assignment. The test technician will fill out all test record sheets, create rejection reports and any other documentation required for the particular job assigned.Job Specification:Must have, at a minimum, the following:Previous work experience in the electrical/ electronic testing field.High school diploma or equivalent, technical school or associates in the electrical/ electronic engineering field preferred.Must be able to read, write and speak English.Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.Ability to read and understand blue-prints and mechanical drawings.Proficiency with all basic hand tools.Ability to use a multi-meter, clamp meter and pc-based test equipment.Ability to fill out all test record sheets and create rejection reports.Must be proficient with the English measurement system and be able to learn the Metric measurement system within a specified amount of time.Capable of working under pressure with specific deadlines.Able to work flexible hours, any shift,Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and able to lift, push, or pull a maximum of 40 lbs.Comfortable working in a rail yard environment.Willing to travel on business trips or field assignments.Familiar with MS office applications.DETAILS:Duration: 6 months Temp to hireLocation: Yonkers, NYSalary: Salary $22 – 26hr. This position involves the use of CNC (Computer Numeric Control) machine shop equipment. Primarily Vertical Turret Lathe with Fanuc Controls and 5 axis Mori DMG with Siemens controls. As a (an) CNC Machinist your day-to-day duties will consist of and may not be limited to: Responsibilities:Set up and operate, with knowledge of desirable speeds and feeds for various alloys. Ability to safely and effectively fixture and set up a variety of castings of various sizes and shapes. Knowledge of standard G codes, ability to use various measuring equipment to verify work performed along with the ability to offset and edit if needed to attain a quality part the first time every time. The ability to program is desirable. Most of the work is done on castings in a high mixed low volume environment. Set up and operate CNC 5 Axis MillingVertical and Horizontal Machining Experience with Mastercam preferredExperience with SolidWorks a plus Education / Certification:High school graduate preferred - will consider commensurate experience. Has passed Certification Test established by the Company for each machine that is used without close supervision. Requirements: Experience in Mastercam on horizontal CNC milling machine as well as VTL.Program and setup 5 axis machine.Working knowledge of other forms of CAD software, Vericut and SolidWorks is a plus.Understand GD&T, read and interpret blueprints.Ability to hold tight tolerances.Strong verbal communication.Assist in helping operators to maintain production and quality. Perform TIG welding operations on aircraft components to meet NDT specifications and ensure efficient flow of work to meet production schedules and demands. Perform TIG welding operations on titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel alloy parts, following standardized working procedures and parameters. Work with Engineering to develop programs, determine new methods, develop parameters, and determine material type for new or modified products. Assist with developing new tooling ideas. Inspect weld for bead sized and compliance with other specifications.Blend, grind, or polish weld ensuring specified minimum wall requirement is met.Use calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges to measure repaired part and ensure dimensional requirements are met.Complete production paperwork. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machines. Performs schedule/unscheduled maintenance on the physical plant, electrical, mechanical and electronic repairs and troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning CNC-control mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.Key Responsibilities:Performs routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly. Performs scheduled maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.Work at heights up to 30ft.
